Violet Richardson
The name Soroptimist was coined from the Latin soror meaning sister, and optima meaning best. Soroptimists is perhaps best interpreted as "the best for women". From the founding of the first Soroptimist club in Oakland, CA, in 1921 by Violet Richrdson, through the present day where over 3,000 clubs are flourishing throughout the world, Soroptimists have continued to strive to achieve the "best for women" in every sphere of their lives.

If you are an accomplished business or professional woman who wishes to provide volunteer service in an atmosphere of support, friendship and fun, then joining Soroptimist may be right for you. Soroptimist membership provides a variety of benefits, including:

Fulfillment: Working on projects that improve the lives of others leads to personal satisfaction and recognition from the community.

Friendship: Cultivating relationships with other women who have similar interests and values is a central aspect of Soroptimist membership.

Networking: Associating with other women representing a variety of professions facilitates valuable business contacts.

Leadership: Developing skills at the club level results in enhanced professional capabilities as well as leadership opportunities at all levels of the organization.

Join the growing number of women who are instrumental at making changes in their communities. For more information on membership, please contact Carol Flasnick.

SI of Helena currently meets every Thursday at noon at the Montana Club. Lunch is $9.50 for members and guests - new members are always welcome.
